From The Lace Workshop, parcels of lacemaking equipment
are sent daily to all corners of the world.

We need to know three things:-

Which items to send.

Where to send them.

How you prefer to pay.

Just tell us what you would like sent.

There is no minimum order and no extra charge for small orders.
If you have any queries about our products, however trivial please ask
and don't forget we have many items in stock which are not catalogued.
In particular, our stock of books changes all the time.

Despatch is normally within 24 hrs but delays may occur at weekends or at holiday times.
We will always contact you if there is any problem.

We do NOT support online ordering and prefer to talk to you.
You can contact us or order by :-

The Lace Workshop,

United Kingdom.

Our email, fax and telephone answer terminals are all within a secure area
to which we have sole access.
These facilities are available 24 hrs for the convenience of overseas customers.

If we do not have what you want we will always try to put you in touch with a likely source.

Needless to say, we need your name and address.

In particular we must have
a post or zip code otherwise insurance
and parcel tracking is invalidated.

Goods within the UK are normally sent by first class mail (next day service)
The standard inland parcel service (three to five working days) is used for larger consignments.

Overseas packets up to 2 kg are sent by airmail.
This is an economic service for goods which fit within the dimensional limits.
Parcels are sent as International standard which is an airmail service.
The surface (economy service) has very limited tracking and is difficult to insure.
We do not use surface mail.
If possible, we will send multiple airmail packets when this is cheaper than a parcel.

We recycle packing materials wherever possible, but when we need to use new materials, a part contribution is levied.

Creative packaging often allows us to save on mailing costs.
We will send orders in more than one packet if appropriate
(for example if you ask for a sheet of pricking card and a glass paperweight.)

We make no charge for packing.

And finally tell us how you prefer to pay.

You can pay by
cheque or card
Payment can be in Pounds or Euros.

Postage is charged as near as possible to cost .

If you are within the EU this will include VAT.
We can always give you an estimate of the mailing cost,
or if you prefer we will be pleased to give an exact price for the total order inclusive of postage.
Slight discrepancies will arise where scales at the post office read differently to ours.
There is no charge for packing.

Payment by Cheque
Cheques should be made out to SMP Lace.
If you are sending a cheque without knowing the exact postage
you can sign the cheque without filling in the amount.
Underneath your signature you clearly write 'not to exceed' and a value.
We then fill in the exact amount and ensure you pay no more than necessary.

Payment by Credit, Debit or AMEX Card
We have been authorised to accept
most credit and debit cards together with Amex for many years.
A payment made this way will give you the full security of your card company
and is the cheapest way for overseas customers

We make no surcharge on card payments and we impose
No minimum order
When you use a credit card, we need to know the number,
the expiry date and the name as written on the card.
For Switch / Maestro cards, we also need to know the issue number.
If the card has no issue number then we will need the 'Valid from' date.

The card companies have now introduced a security code which we need to know.
This is the last three digits of the number printed on the back next to your signature.

It is important that you are comfortable sending card details.
particularly if you are a first time customer.

The internet is not renowned for security and because of the way email
has been merged with it many folk are suspicious of sending card details by email.
If you are concerned, then split the data between two emails sent on different days.
Technically, email is probably safer than fax or surface mail.

Unless you instruct us otherwise, your card details are not retained.

Many customers are traders who stock our goods.

This is why many of our products may look familiar to you.

Most items which we make ourselves or stock in bulk are sold on a discounted scale
according to quantity. The quantity discounts given in the catalogue are up to the level
which we think appropriate for teachers, lace groups, and small traders.
If you want larger quantities, there may well be a greater discount.
